The flute is one of the most virtuoso solo instruments. It is called a wood-breathing instrument, although modern flutes are most often made of metal. The flute offers a variety of playing techniques, so its repertoire is extremely broad, ranging from symphonic and chamber music to contemporary genres.
Unlike the block flute, the transverse grand flute is played horizontally and has a much louder and clearer sound. If you are in doubt about your choice, you can start learning the block flute by trying your hand at a simpler, less expensive instrument. For children under the age of 10, we also recommend starting with the block flute.
